Comments: I visited Kenya in 1994 with a class as an undergraduate. It was a great experience. I am currently working on my M.S. degree and I am longing to return to Kenya when I graduate. If anyone knows of any opportunities to study or work in Kenya please e-mail me the information. I like the site and I love all the wildlife of Kenya. If I had to pick one though, it would be the kudu.

Comments: I am very impressed with the site, especially the inclusion of the Swahili name for the animals. Very interesting. The pictures I looked at were very good. I like most of the African animals, but especially servals, leopards, and the other wildcats. I am also interested in hunts for the Big Five. All animals have always fascinated me, and your site is one of the more interesting that I have found. Thank You.

Comments: Jambo! Habari gani? Kuna baridi leo katika Birmingham, lakini hakuna matata katika Jefferson State. I get a kick out of amazing my East African students -- mostly Kenyans -- by blurting out a few well-timed phrases in Kiswahili. My vocabulary is poor, my grammar is almost non-existent, and my accent is wretched. My Tanzanians and my one youngster from Mombasa assure me that I am learning Sheng from the Kenyans and that what I am speaking is full of errors. But I still love to see the looks on their faces when I spring something on them. Katika Afrika mashariki haraka haraka haina baraka, lakini katika Amerika kaskazini haraka haraka INA baraka! Anybody that wants to help me through the See Simba Run stage of learning to really speak and understand a little of the language is welcome to contact me at: internat@jscc.cc.al.usorwarren.orourke@mailexcite.comor my international fax number -- (205) 853-0340.Kwaheri ya kuonana!

Comments: Greetings!!!I was born in America with a Swahilian name (though I have no Swahilian decent known). My father, when first saw me, thought that I was very beautiful and very sweet (I was a very happy, restless baby and my mother had a good first pregnancy). I was always told that my name meant sweet and beautiful in your language by my father. I am in my twenties now and try all the most earnestly to live up to the definition (my whole life). Is it true, though? I always prided myself on living the words, but is it fact or my fathers's wishfulness. Please rest my nerves... SukariPS: My favorite animal is the elephant and I have earned my name if that is what it means :)

Comments: We travelled to Kenya on Safari in Nov '97. Visited Samburu, Outspan/Treetops, Lake Naivasha, and Keekorok Lodge in the masai Mara. We saw just about everything we wanted to, including Cheetah and Leopard at Samburu. Our best find, however, was Ole Tome the Masai warrior at Keekorok. Dressed in all his finery, he was a sight to behold. He told us much of his culture and traditions. Sadly, after two nights stay we returned to Nairobi via road (about 5 1/2 hours of tortuous dirt-track; checked in to the hotel, showered, and went to the bar for a drink. Imagine our surprise to see Ole Tome there - he'd flown there from the Lodge airstrip, taking only about 40 minutes!! We had a great time in his company. Departed then for the Seychelles - but that's another story.I left England with big cats as my favourite animals, and although I was excited to see them for real, I came away from Kenya with the giraffe as my all-time delight. We'd recommend anybody - and we mean anybody - to take a safari holiday in Kenya. The people are extraordinarily friendly, and obliging to a fault. We'd be pleased to receive E-mail from any like-minded travellers.

We traveled to Lake Nakuru National Reserve, Lake Bogoria National Park, Maasai Mara National Reserve, Nairobi National Park, Mount Kenya and stayed primarily in Nakuru. We also visited Giraffi Center, ate at Safari Park and shopped at the market in Nairobi. We experienced all the animals of East Africa with the exception of the Cheetah due to severe rains. Our favorite animals have to be the leopard, lion, and my personal favorite: the rock hyrax.

Comments: I am 14 and a half and will be 15 on may 25th. I'm in the 8th grade at Hopewell Jr. in the Lakota School District. All the names of our schools have to do with Indian tribe names and the names of our district too. Like Shawnee, Liberty, Union, and many others. I live in an area that used to be Indian country, and I think it's pretty cool because there is a museum with old indian trails, camps, and burial mounds preserved not too far from where I live. My favorite animal is the lion! I think it is the all time best living animal and plan to work with them in kenya as an animal specialist when I grow up. Pretty cool job don't you think? Have you ever heard of or seen the movie Born Free? It is about a true story where this lady Joy Adamson and her husband raise the 3 lion cubs they found. One of them they keep to set free to be wild. The movie is a kind of old movie but it is on the disney every now and then. Just watch for it if you are interested. If you liked that movie you will love its sequal. Thats about how Elsa and her cubs servive out in the wild. The name of it is Living Free.
