Comments: Masai Mara is a wonderful place. I advice anyone who plans to visit Africa to strongly consider Kenya. That means Masai Mara. People, culture, animals in their natural habitat, vegetation, food, music - name it, Masai Mara has it. I had fun. It was absolutely splendid. What are you waiting for?

Comments: Hi,

Just thought I would post a link to my podcast and blog thats live from the Mara! We now have a sat internet connection at Governors Camp, where I am based as a balloon pilot and this will enable me to keep the blog right up to date and the podcast sort of upto date.

Hopefully I will be able to keep visitors to the Mara updated on the position of the 2006 migration and what myself and the usual suspects are upto in the Masai Mara.

Cheers

Gary

Comments: I was a surveyor in Kenya for a year in 1965-6. I based in Narok and surveyed the area of Masai Mara. I visited Keekarok Lodge on the day it opened. I was allowed to camp anywhere in what is now the reserve, which I don't think is allowed now. I made the first sketch map showing tracks in the reserve for use by the Lodge. Perhaps one day I'll be able to visit again.

i am very interested in working at a national park in Kenya, as part of a gap year. I particularily interested in the great migration and working with cats. I would like to do a course in game ranging, and spend a year working on the reserve either in the resorts or as a game ranger, dealing with animals, before i head back to the city life to pursue my career in marketing. please can you send me details of who i can contact with regard to my request.

Comments: I'm conservation biologist and extremely concerned about the loss of our biodiversity which is threatening our Planet's Future.
I have a deep passion for the Black rhino (hook-lipped) - critically endangered, 2002 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The greatest threat today to all rhinos is the demand for their horn, which is used in traditional medicine. In the early twentieth century, massive hunting in Africa, and the clearing of land for agriculture, rapid human population growth with massive forest destruction for human settlement brought rhino numbers down to critical levels.
Great website!

Comments: I was there and at Amboseli in 1983 as part of the only Qantas 'round the world Air Cruise QF134. But that's another story. 23 years and four kids (plus two grandchildren) later I remember the warmth and friendship of the Masai people and the wonderful wild animals just strolling forward as they have for milions of years. One cannot forget a vista like that. It is amazing to look from a safari Kombi into the eyes of lions who are resting
from the heat and not feeling fear of them.
My favourite animal is the graceful and sure footed ELEPHANT which we travelled on in Thailand. I find that the countries with the least show us "spoilt" westerners a greater sense of family and community values.

Comments: I wanted to correct your work on The Maasai and their Background where you publish that The God of the Maasai was called Ngai. I am a Kikuyu and Ngai was the title to my Ancestral fathers. The Maasai God was called Enkai. They share the title with the Nandi ancestrals. Otherwise thank you very much for enlightening the world about these wonderful and significant people.
My Favourite animal is the Monkey as it best describes the human intuition to survive.

I guess I grew a bond with my pet garden snake before and I love how big they grow and how dangerous they can be. and after years of watching my hero, Steve Irwin, handle them, I'm sure they're my favorite.

Comments: Dear Sir, i encountered your web page on the net where it sits prominently when googled! Having secured such a site would you be interested in expanding the contents to include the greater mara area there is a need for the entire expanse inc surrounding group ranches to be included in anybodies perspective of the mara. I operate a camp on the koiyaki GR and as such work very closely with the local populace to secure a long term sustainable wildlife environment. A main part of this is for the general public to understand that the mara is not limited to just the Game reserves. There is a large socio economic and private sector involvement and as much PR out there as possible will enable us to help provide for a long term future. Are you interested in posting maps info etc on this site. Not advertising.

best regards
Alex
