Comments: I visited Tanzania in Sep, Dar es Salaam, and I had a wonderful time. In fact the two weeks I spent there were the very best of my life; I am telling the truth. From the moment I reached there until I left, I have never felt one anxious moment. I remember being at the Carribean Festival of Arts in Jamaica in the 1970s' and I thought I had a grand time, but these two weeks to a wedding in Dar Es Salaam top it all. The hospitality shown is beyond words. This hospitality will rest in my emotions so I can recall it whenever my spirit needs uplifting. I thank all those, especially Christ above, who made those two weeks so enjoyable to me and my family. My favorite animal at Mikuni was Twiga Giraffe. There he stood tall and majestic overlooking everything. I saw Mr and Mrs Simba (lions) only from a distance.

Comments: I have just returned from Kenya where I was on my honeymoon with my husband Tony. We really enjoyed our safari which covered not only the Masai Mara but Samburu, Lake Nakuru and Naivasha. But the ultimate was the Masai and the Big Cat Diary film crew were there at the same time. It is quite difficult to pick just one animal but it would have to be the Black Maned Lion because of their regal stature and sheer presence.

Comments: My favourite animal is the cheetah (it is also represented on the somalian flag) because like the cheetah, somalis are skinny and are tall and we both prefer the open grasslands. Like the cheetah we shall with terrible speed burst into a new age of peace and supremacy inshallah. Another favourite animal of mine is the Falcon, it is the traditional sign of the Warsenglis. One day freedom and equality shall be given to all humans in this world. Like the falcon us somalis love to wander the open spaces and live a free life in the top of the world.

Comments: Howdy ya'll I don't know if I have any particular favorite Afican Animal. In the USA I am very partial to the deer family. I suppose if I had to chose it would be the gazelle, seeing as how magnificent they are in full run. I think they are the deer that can go from 0 to 70 in 3 to 4 seconds flat. I am a victim of pain due to a logging accident on the WA state peninsula. Any way I have heard rumors that the Black Mamba snake venom is being developed as a painkiller which is 100 times more effective than Morphine. If anyone can help me with this research please respond. John

Comments: Of all the peoples of Africa, I feel that only the Masai have the ability to recognize the reality of what I am about to suggest. For decades now, the world's conservation efforts have gone to extreme measures to stop the slaughter of the rhino, but to no avail, as it continues up to present day. I see as the most viable alternative, the need to partially domesticate the remaining rhino in a way that would allow for the interaction of select individuals within the tribes to build a 'field' relationship with the rhino. The purpose of this would be to meet with the animals in their environment, & carefully shave small amounts of horn in a very controlled manner (much like clipping one's nails) on a scheduled interval. The further purpose of this would be to sell the shaved keratin material to the black market which would fund the tribe, and effectively undercut the actual poaching for rhino horn. I have witnessed how rhino interact with certain individuals even in the wild, and am convinced that this bonding, and mutual support is the only real hope for the continued existence of these magnificent beasts. In this ever changing landscape of conservation, we must pull out all the stops if we are to truly save the world's endangered rhino. As I said in the beginning, only the Masai, a tribe whose uncanny recognition of the importance of Nature and her ways, could possibly understand the gravity of my request. It is my profound hope that if the Masai were to adopt such a theory, then the other nations of Africa and the world would surely follow suit. Please consider my request thoroughly... surely the rhino are worth it. Thank you.

Ningependa kudaima kujizoeza kukisema. Najua kwamba panakuwana watu wingi, ambao, wanataka kujifunza, na kujizoeza lugha hili. Labda, kutakuwa mtu ambaye atataka kujizoeza Kiswahili na mimi. I would love to travel to Africa to know Kenia, Tanzania and other countries and people, specially the Masai. If I ever have to chance to see the Kilimanjaro or a real gorilla (out of the zoo) or to that hard-working and smiling people, that would be a dream come true.

No parliament extention no more Moi,- or his influence, a society that is free to develop without interference and without corruption. I believe in a Democratic Society, where both women and men have equal status, and opportunities in education, heath care and employment. In addition I think that female circumsision should be abolished today. Lawrence Mc'Ochieng' Born in Siaya Alego.

Comments: My best animal is the wildebeest. The Great annual wildebeest migration between the Serengeti in Tanzania and Maasai Mara has been going on since time immemorial.I like the wildebeest because he has the best navigational skills no human intelligence can beat.Intelligent to an extent that the beests knows exactly when and where to make babies. Human beings just do it, anywhere anytime. Mating takes place in Maasai Mara and delivery takes place in the Southern plains of the Serengeti between Jan and Mar. Come and watch this miracle. We have more than 100 bouncing and even trotting new babies every day.Intelligent again the Mama beests can hold the delivery process for some few weeks if the rains come late. On the other hand if a Mama human pregnancy is overdue for some few days the Doctors are given an emergency call!! hahahah! If Maasai Mara is the Sister of the Serengeti, I believe all of you would like to visit the brother. Come and see the great endless plains of the Serengeti with us.click here you’re not late! www.nyikatreks.comAsante sana!

Comments: Having just come back from my first trip to Africa (Zanzibar) I am in love both with the country and a certain Masai Warrior. I wanted to learn more about his culture. I am no threat to either as I am middle-aged and recently married for the 2nd time! I am interested in how the ancient and modern world reverborate on such an innocent and yet intelligent tribe, as I met him acting as a security guard, along with some others at our hotel. How far advanced are the Masai and what technology are they conversant with? I saw a mobile 'phone ad in the airport showing that the Masai have access to this form of communication. I am also curious about the fact that all the information I have read shows that the Masai traditionally wear red, and yet 'my Masai Warrior' wore purple and mauve. He also had long, very long hair but looked to be in his 30's, or late 20's at the very least. He had a limp, which could be a key. Does he come from a different tribe or is he an imposter? I have enjoyed the information on your site, and would welcome any information you can send regarding my questions, to my hotmail address, I realise you can't guarantee answers. As I share the homepage I have left it blank as I would rather you didn't post information there.

Comments: Excellent web-site, thank you. I lived in Kenya from birth to 23 yrs and seen the whole country went to Masai Mara only once though, it changed my life! I saw a miracle one evening as I looked across the plains, it was so beautiful it felt like supernatural. That moment remains in my mind always, I am very lucky to have been there, all the best.

I am so interested in their culture, I would love to go back and live within a tribe for a number of weeks for observance purposes.
